Interpreters and Conference Interpreting

Hello there

I will study interpreting at ESIT. My language combination is French A and English B' (bi-active) nothing fancy I have to admit.
I would like to know if 2 languages are enough to be an interpreter and find work. Is it strongly recommended to have a C language? I have got a decent command of Spanish and Arabic. Would you recommend me to keep working on these 2 languages ?
Once you are an interpreter I have heard that it is possible to add a language.
When I look at the forums I feel a bit bad I see people with crazy language combinations, my language combination is so common place.

Theoretically, yes, but in most interpreting schools you have to choose at least 2 languages besides your A one.

Well they took me in with only one foreign language besides my A language. Of course they were stricter than if I had a C language. To be honnest I can't really understand the difference between B and C languages
Is French A and English B sought after ? I mean will I get a job with this combination or would you strongly recommend me to have other languages under my belt ?

Having a B language which you can use in sim is not that commonplace. Being bi-active with English and French is a very sought-after combination, at least in the private market. I have the same combination as you plus a C, but most of the time I'm hired for my B, not for my C.

Je viens de m'inscrire sur ce forum - j'ai attendu pour cela d'être admise à l'ESIT. pardon d'écrire en français mais je vous sais francophones... ceci dit, evrybody can answer too !
Je n'ai pas de langue B, au final, mais 3 langues C : portugais, allemand, anglais. Est-ce gênant pour le master, et surtout ensuite sur le marché du travail ?

Dis-toi bien que si tu as été prise à l'ESIT, c'est parce que les profs ont jugé ta combinaison et tes capacités intéressantes ! Je suis sûr qu'une fois le diplôme en poche, tu n'auras pas grand mal à trouver du travail. Surtout avec un allemand C.
