AIIC Schools Directory temporarily off-line

Postby AIIC Training » Mon Nov 10, 2008 5:56 pm

Dear all,

Members and visitors to this forum may have noticed that the AIIC Schools Directory is currently off-line. Since you are amongst our most frequent visitors we felt we should tell you that AIIC is currently overhauling it's website and the survey from which the information that makes up the Schools Directory is drawn. So the Schools Directory will be off-line for a while.

Sorry for any inconvenience. We hope to have a new Directory available sometime next year. In the meantime please use our "Best Practice" criteria when looking at interpreting schools that you are thinking of applying to and have a look at our Advice for Students page.

Hi everyone,

Sorry not to have got back to you before the summer break.
The new AIIC Schools Directory is part of a larger project to overhaul AIIC's entire website and webservices which is why it's dragged on longer than expected. However, we expect it to be published early in 2012.
In the meantime, the Best Practice and Students' Advice pages above are the best tools to help find a school that suits you.

Thanks, but the Best Practice Guide is not very useful, quite honestly.
One cannot really find out which school DOES and which school DOES not meet the criteria, just by reading the guide.
Many schools which were not on the previous AIIC list claim that their graduates are "headhunted by international organisations", yet they were never on the list, how is that even possible?
When one reads the Best Practice, however, they seem suitable...this is why I say "not very helpful"

any news on when the new AIIC Schools Directory will be published? can it not be uploaded in the meantime, since the overhaul isn't taking place yet? :)

yes, the best practice guide does not help a lot, many schools claim to be meeting AIIC criteria, but I heard from some EU interpreters that school x and school y never really met (all ) the criteria, yet they themselves claim that they do.
So when can we get a list again?
would be very helpful.
thanks
