SSLMIT (Trieste and Forlì)

Schools which don't have their own forum (yet)

I recently bought a book (James Nolan's "Interpretation Techniques and Exercises"), which I find very interesting! There is a section about ideomatic expressions and a lot of translation exercises (I'm going to use them to do some sight translation practice), but also some reformulation ones. I'm definitely using this book to prepare for next year's entrance test!

I'm doing sight translations every other day (and some short consecutive) for the moment.

I'm wondering... how can you get used to rephrase a 4-minute (that's the duration of the speech to be rephrased at the Forlì entrance test) speech without taking notes?
Is there a method to get there gradually?
Should I start by rephrasing written texts before rephrasing speeches, or should I start rephrasing them right away?

Thanks in advance!

Is there anybody here who (like me) is going to sit the entrance exam next September in Forlì?
If yes, how are you getting ready?

Hi!
I haven't yet, but I'm planning to.
Any suggestions on what to focus during this type of exercise?

Hi everyone! Could anyone tell me what to study and how to prepare for entry exams in Trieste and Forlì? All I found on their websites is too vague, if some of you have already passed those exams I would be very grateful to read about your experiences! I'm currently reading international newspapers and trying to do memory excercises, but I'm not sure it will be enough... Help me please!!! :?

I will try to do the tests too(both of them).
I'm just listening as much as I Can on tv,internet etc.i'm trying to create a HUGE glossary with every single world that i didn't know before.
Over the next days I think I will try to do the consecutive without taking notes,so I will simply train my memory.
Unfortunately, everything will be quite random,so that an x factor to pass them is just our luck.

Hello,
can someone tell me:
- What are the combinations allowed in Trieste;
- What is the success rate to enter the second year and for those in second year to graduate?
- Are teachers professional interpreters?

And finally: I'm still in time to register for this year?
Thank you!
