For those who don't know the concept of 'couch surfing', please visit www.couchsurfing.com

The idea is to establish a network of clearly identified and trusted interpreters and students in conference interpreting, and to foster exchanges among them, especially by helping out a foreign member who wishes to spend some time in your country.

E.g. X can host Y for three weeks in Paris, for free, and the next month Y will return the favour by hosting X at her place in Berlin.

This of course is only an example. The purpose of the group is just to get a list of people we know, so that we can make sure they are really interpreters or students in interpreting, and that they are known to at least one member of the group who can vouch for their reliability.

How
1/Go to http://www.couchsurfing.com, open an account and create your profile.
2/Post an ad here to request access to the group, and explain how you can contribute.
3/Once you're in, you can contact any other member and start making plans for your next stay abroad!

"LEGAL NOTICE": Obviously the role of this group is just to put people in touch with each other, whatever happens next is your sole responsiblity.

My name is Iain, from Ireland, and this autumn I am moving to Moscow for a year or two, after which I hope to enter ESIT (English A, Russian B and French C). Hopefully, I can host people in Moscow over the next year or two, I have been an active couch surfer for about three years now.
